Chase Sapphire Reserve Adds US$100 Statement Credit Towards Accounts With The New $550 Annual Fee


I just received an email from Chase Card Services to check my secure messages concerning “A $100 statement credit toward the annual fee on your Reserve credit card”.

Chase has announced back in January that they would up the annual fee for Chase Sapphire Reserve cards that renew April 1 and beyond to $550 per year (from the previous $450).

Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles 6-Month Status Extension

Turkish Airlines has quietly extended Miles&Smiles members elite tiers by six months.

The airline has not sent out any communication to its members about this extension, and there is no information on Miles&Miles website. You can see the extension when logging in to your account.

Bangkok Airways Suspends All Domestic Flights Until April 30, 2020 – Koh Samui Traffic Cut Off


Bangkok Airways has just announced that it will suspend all domestic flights from April 7 until at least April 30, 2020 subject to further developments.

The carrier has already shut lounge operations and also suspended international flights in the last few weeks in measures responding to COVID10 and Thai Immigration rules.

Alaska Airlines launched back in early March, an elite qualifying miles bonus for Mileage Plan member travel that has now been extended through May 31, 2020.

Mileage Plan members earn 50% elite qualifying miles bonus for flights flown after registering for this offer that are flown March 7 – May 31.

Marriott Updates COVID-19 Cancellation Policy (March 30, 2020)


Marriott has updated coronavirus (COVID-19) reservation policies that waive all cancellation fees and refunds prepayments for all existing reservations with any arrival date if done 24 hours before the scheduled arrival or by June 30, 2020.

Reservations made between March 13 – June 30, 2020, for any arrival date, can also be canceled without penalties for up to 24 hours before the scheduled arrival. Marriott will also waive points expiration, and extends Suite Night Awards and certificates.

Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus Miles Pushes Miles Expiry Through September 30, 2020

Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus is extending miles that expired yesterday (March 31) or are about to on June 30 through September 30, 2020, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

This extension is automatic and there is nothing that members need to do. It is unclear, however, what Thai Airways is planning to do members with status. Are tiers extended by a year?

UPDATE: Hilton Honors Diamond Member Suite Upgrade Benefit Change? (Corrected)

On Monday, we wrote (read more here) about a question from our reader who had noted a wording change on the Hilton page for Diamond benefits.

Aegean Miles+Bonus Extends Status & Tier Qualification By Six Months


Aegean has today extended its Miles+Bonus program member tiers by six months that also applies to the qualification period due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

You now have the status effectively for 18 months, during which you need to complete the flights required to retaining or upping the tier.

Marriott Data Breach 5.2 Million Guests Affected


Marriott today sent out 5.2 million emails to guests whose account information with the hotel company was exposed to an unrelated third party.

Records of these estimated 5.2 million guests had been accessed using two employee credentials from a franchised property (unclear which hotel and where).

The LOT – Condor Takeover Might Be Dead In The Water: Condor Applies For Government Loan Extension

Late January I wrote about how LOT Polish Airlines proved to be successful in their bid to acquire Germany’s Condor but this deal could now be off the table given the Economic climate.

Condor has previously received a 380 Mio EURO bridge loan from the German government which needs to be repaid in April of this year, however the airline has now applied for an extension of said loan.
